And this is the view we had today. At first it was pretty scary, but then we came to find out that it was in fact a controlled burn. It is so dry here and the fire danger is extreme, so the fire department opted to burn the grass land, so should there be a ‘real’ fire, the houses would be somewhat protected. They burned all the grass land between my house and the mesa that you might be able to see in the background.

My husband got a little upset with me for walking too close to this elk. But I had to… My camera doesnt have a good zoom

I am not too crazy bout heights so taken this picture was a bit scary for me. But I got a couple of fairly good pictures despite my shaking hands

This big guy came down to the lake just as the 2 females (previous picture) went in to the lake.
Elks are such majestic animals. We see them all the time around here where I live, but rarely as up close as we did in Yellowstone.

Went to visit the in-laws yesterday. And now I am certain that it will be the last time in a very long time that will happen. They just piss me off in the worst way. So today I felt like posting a picture of Old Faithful. It pretty much describes how I feel LOL.
